Dr. Henshaw takes you on a journey of innovative vision care that changes people’s lives,. Yet, this vision care is not traditional. It is about developmental vision, and he backs up the principles of his innovative vision care with Biblical principles. He discusses nearsightedness and farsightedness but areas in vision care you may not realize pertain to vision care. They include lens therapy, vision therapy, ADD, dyslexia, job burn out, visually related learning problems, sports vision, head trauma, auto accidents, and enhancement. He has a whole chapter on amblyopia incorrectly called “lazy eye” and another on blindness. One chapter discusses how Christianity preserved science. Although the material could be technical he has an uncanny way of explaining things for anyone to grasp the ideas.
The book actually started in 1985 when Dr. Henshaw presented a paper on vision and the Bible at an optometry meeting in San Jose. He started with Matt 6: 22-23 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 3. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! NIV That led to a section in his book on juvenile delinquency and vision, more importantly its treatment.
